An oval shaped print of a mother and daughter with their three cats. The mother, teaching her daughter how to knit, is happily surprised as her playful cats chase the irresistible ball of wool with their paws. The relaxed posture and clothing of the figures, seated in on a stone balcony with a view over a lake to a mountain range, is accentuated by the Mediterranean climate and the abundance of soft fabrics and fur. The trees in the background are much in the style of the many influential Japanese prints that were entering Europe at the time
