An exuberant cityscape in washes of bright colour. To the right, the skyscrapers of the City and Barbican towers are suggested by the colour purple, and in black ink, an impression of the dome of St Paul's Cathedral and the deco façade of the Savoy Hotel(Embankment side) can be seen. Strong daylight is suggested by the artist's decision to leave unpainted areas of the Thames, allowing the primed surface to show along with the painted areas of the finished work. |
