A contemporary scene of the ruins of Thetford Abbey gatehouse. A degree of archaeological or restorative activity appears to be concerning four lightly sketched figures at the base of the tower, as they move in pairs about an erected ladder and about the tower's vicinity. The foliage and cloud formations are treated with vivid highlights of black ink, and contrast effectively with the stoic, peaceful light stone of the gatehouse façade. |
